The Institute for Social Policy and Labour is a statutory, multidisciplinary agency in Hungary, with over a hundred staff. Its responsibilities cover research, development and a wide range of tasks concerned with the coordination and support for implementation of family, youth, and social policies, with the national drug prevention strategy and labour related policies. Its finances come from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour and several research and developmental programs.
The Institute was founded on 1 January 2007, by combining the expertise of its legal predecessors: the National Institute for Family and Social Policy, the National Institute for Drug Prevention and Youth Research Group of "Mobilitas", and the Research Department of the National Employment Office. Therefore, the Institute is the key national source of expertise on child- and family policy, welfare, social and labour issues.
The main activities of the Institute cover the responsibilities of several departments of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour in the fields of child welfare and protection, social policy, labour and employment policy, equal opportunities policy, youth policy and policy to prevent drug abuse.
